Waterfront Land Disposition

Collingwood, Ontario
2001

Project Undertaken at IBI Group

Jonathan Hack was involved in managing the proposal call and negotiations for the sale of the Collingwood shipyards for redevelopment. As a former shipyard, the site was heavily contaminated and required an innovative approach to remediation to enable residential development to occur on the lands. Using a site-specific risk-based approach, remediation involved excavation and removal of the most significant contamination and the placement of other, less hazardous contaminated soil beneath parkland and berms on the edge of the site.

Status: As of 2009, the site has been significantly developed for a mix of residential clusters and commercial development.
